Fuerza de Guerra Naval Especial (FGNE) is Spain’s elite special operations unit within the Spanish Navy. Created to carry out high-risk, specialized missions both at sea and on land. Established in 2009. The FGNE has participated in multiple international missions alongside NATO and allied forces, contributing to peacekeeping, anti-terrorism, and anti-piracy efforts. Their operations span diverse theaters, from the waters of the Mediterranean to missions in Afghanistan, showcasing Spain’s commitment to global security. Organization/Jobs
The unit organizes its personnel into small, highly trained teams called estoles. An estol in the FGNE is comparable to a platoon-sized unit, typically comprising about 16 to 20 operators. Each estol is further divided into smaller teams. Each estol is tailored for specific mission profiles, such as direct action, reconnaissance, counter-terrorism, and maritime operations.
